The Global Options Map

The whole map. Two we build.

There are more than a dozen ways to buy a passport or a residency, and most advisory firms will sell you any of them. We productize two: El Salvador and Vanuatu. Everything else on this page is here so you can see the field clearly, not so we can sell it to you.

01 / CBI vs. RBI

Name the legal Outcome.

A second passport looks like a shopping problem. Pick a country, pay the fee, collect the document. It is not. The passport is the easy part; the tax residency, the Bitcoin paper trail, and the reporting posture are where the real position is won or lost. That is why we map the whole landscape before we name a jurisdiction.

Citizenship by Investment

Citizenship at the end.

Citizenship by investment (CBI) grants full citizenship under a sovereign legal framework after the qualifying contribution and diligence are complete. The passport is evidence of the status, not the whole strategy.

Residency by Investment

Residence at the start.

Residency by investment (RBI) grants permission to live in a jurisdiction under renewal, presence, and compliance rules. Any later naturalisation is a separate legal sequence, never an automatic passport promise.

02 / The Five Dimensions

Compare the position, not the Brochure.

A jurisdiction belongs on the shortlist only when all five dimensions work together.

01

Legal outcome

Citizenship, permanent residence, renewable residence, and tax residence are different instruments. Name the status before comparing countries.

02

Capital and settlement

Separate irreversible government capital, professional fees, liquidity needs, and the lawful payment route before money moves.

03

Time and presence

Read the preparation period, government review, physical-presence standard, biometrics, renewals, and route to any later naturalisation.

04

Tax and reporting

A passport does not decide tax residence. Test citizenship-based taxation, the Common Reporting Standard, FATCA, and the client’s actual residence facts separately.

05

Maintenance and legacy

Passport validity, dependants, hereditary status, renewal, banking, and long-term political durability determine whether the structure still works later.

03 / Regional Field Guide

Context without a Sales Menu.

These cards explain the wider field. They are not intake pages, fixed-price offers, or implied endorsements.

Caribbean citizenship programs

The Caribbean established the modern citizenship-by-investment market. The programs are legitimate, but a familiar menu is not automatically the right Bitcoin-native answer. The dedicated analysis covers the trade-offs without rebuilding it here.

European residency by investment

European investment-residence rules are residence permissions, not passports. Qualifying assets, minimum presence, renewal, and later naturalisation conditions move too often for a static price card. We verify the current legal and operational position only when it enters a bespoke brief after the paid Strategy Session.

Turkiye

Turkiye grants citizenship against a $400,000 real-estate investment, a threshold set by Presidential Decision No. 5554 (Official Gazette No. 31834, effective 13 June 2022). It is fast and popular, and it is entirely outside our two productized programs. If it fits your position, we scope it as bespoke work after the Strategy Session.

Argentina

Argentina is a residency-to-citizenship pathway, not a citizenship-by-investment program. Rentista or pensionado residency under Law 25,871 can lead to naturalization after two years under Law 346. A separate investment framework was paused in April 2026; the law remains on the books, but no operational pipeline exists. The operational pause took effect 14 April 2026. Any Argentine work is bespoke, scoped after the Strategy Session.

04 / The Two We Productize

Two programs. One published Boundary.

El Salvador and Vanuatu are the only productized 21 CBI programs. The records below come from the same active-program source used across the site.

Productized / Recognized

Vanuatu

Government contribution
From $130,000
Processing
30 to 60 days
Visa-free destinations
87
Reporting posture
CRS participant

The speed-led productized route. Vanuatu participates in the Common Reporting Standard and requires one in-person biometric visit. The trade-offs remain part of the recommendation.

Figures verified July 11, 2026

Productized / Sovereign

El Salvador

Government contribution
From $1,000,000
Processing
6 to 8 weeks
Visa-free destinations
132
Reporting posture
Non-CRS

The Bitcoin-native productized route. El Salvador is Non-CRS and pairs the citizenship layer with a state Bitcoin Office and strategic Bitcoin reserve.

The government contribution settles in BTC or USDT only, direct to the government wallet. 21 CBI does not custody it.

Outside these two, the jurisdiction has to earn its place in a bespoke brief.

05 / Flagship Research

Who ranks where, honestly

We publish the Bitcoin Passport Index, the first passport ranking built for Bitcoiners. It scores jurisdictions on a Bitcoin lens, including many we do not service and never will. An index ranking is not a serviced program. Read the inaugural 2026 edition and draw your own map.

06 / Proceed

Begin your Sovereignty.

No menu. No upsell. Just the map, then a plan. Start with the free Brief. If you want a plan built around your position, book the Sovereignty Strategy Session: one hour with Adam Juchniewicz, CEO, at $475 via BitSettle or $500 via Stripe, creditable toward professional fees if you retain us.

The BitSettle amount is the 5% Bitcoin-native discount. BTC, Lightning, and USDT are our payment rails. Credit cards and bank transfers also accepted as needed. Fees settle via BitSettle.

One focused hour tests your objective, source of funds, tax and reporting facts, timing, and realistic jurisdiction set.

03 / The Scope

Bespoke work, if earned

If a wider route survives the Session, 21 CBI names the work product, counterparties, exclusions, and fee in writing before wider work begins.
